Discovered a new cellular defense mechanism against viral and bacterial infections

An international team with the participation of the Institute of Biomedical Research of Barcelona (IIBB-CSIC) has described a new immune defense mechanism orchestrated by lipid droplets, as cellular organelles capable of attracting and eliminating invading pathogens. The results are published in the latest issue of Science.

Design and pre-clinical trial of a new molecule to delay the progression of Parkinson's

The molecule, designed to act only on dopaminergic neurons, reduces the synthesis and accumulation of the alpha-synuclein protein, key in the evolution of the disease. The study, led by the CSIC’s Institute of Biomedical Research of Barcelonaof and IDIBAPS, has obtained promising preliminary results to control its development.
