The network approved by the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities, will be coordinated by Professor Jose Carlos Fernández-Checa and has the participation of four research groups linked to the IIBB.

The RED of Metabolic Diseases and Cancer (REDEMyC), brings together pioneers in Spain in hepatic and cardiovascular metabolic research, in cancer and in the development of non-invasive diagnostic techniques. REDEMyC, born of the need to address a problem interdisciplinary and multifactorially, thanks to the synergies of basic and clinical researchers with a wide and recognized track record in the fields of metabolism and cancer.

This proposal involves researchers from the Biomedicine Institute of Seville, the Universities of Barcelona, ​​Navarra and European Madrid, the San Pau University Hospital and the Spanish  Research Council, selected for their consolidated trajectory and scientific quality, for their experience and its productivity

The elucidation of the cellular and molecular mechanisms involved in the development and progress of metabolic diseases and cancer can allow the identification of new therapeutic targets for the treatment of these pathologies of great incidence in our society.
