The Cognition, Neural Networks and Neurotechnology Laboratory (www.puiglab.org) investigates the role of neural networks in cognition, as well as their possible usefulness as biomarkers of cognitive deficits in psychiatric and neurological diseases. The main objectives of the laboratory are: 1) Understand how alterations in neural networks and brain circuits produce cognitive deficits in preclinical models of psychiatric and neurological diseases. 2) Identify new therapeutic targets for cognitive deficit by investigating the cellular mechanisms that underlie the cognitive improvement produced by pharmacological treatments, natural compounds and cognitive stimulation in preclinical models. 3) Contribute to the development of new neurotechnologies for the treatment of brain diseases based on graphene and light.
