Group leader (PI): José Martínez González (jose.martinez@iibb.csic.es)
Group integrated in the CIBER of Cardiovascular Diseases (CIBERCV) in which it participates in Program 2 (Arterial pathology, myocardial and structural ischemia of the heart). His projects address different aspects of vascular biology and pathophysiology of the myocardium, and analyze the mechanisms of onset, progression and complication of cardiovascular diseases aimed at the development of new diagnostic and therapeutic strategies.
Main research lines:
• NR4A nuclear receptors in the pathophysiology of atherothrombosis, abdominal aortic aneurysm, and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.
• Proteins that integrate and modify the extracellular matrix (LOX Family) in cardiovascular remodeling associated with ischemic damage, atherothrombosis, abdominal aortic aneurysm, and hypertensive cardiac hypertrophy.
• NR4A receptors and the LOX family in vascular calcification and aortic stenosis.
• Vitamin K dependent proteins and tyrosine kinase receptors in cardiovascular diseases, thrombosis and hemostasis.
