The CIBER of Liver and Digestive Diseases (CIBEREHD) will be celebrating the 26 and 27 of November, the first edition of its Research School, an innovative activity for scientific training that aims to promote knowledge oriented to translational research, improving skills of its researchers, and promote interactions between the different groups that make up this thematic area of CIBER.
This initiative, coordinated by Jordi Gracia, CIBEREHD scientific deputy director, and the head of training and teaching at CIBEREHD Sofía Pérez del Pulgar, is divided into two sessions that combine theoretical and practical sessions and will be held in person at the Research Institute Biomédicas August Pi i Sunyer (IDIBAPS), in Barcelona, with the participation of 23 researchers.
Theoretical-practical program
The forum starts next Friday, November 26, with a program that will be opened by the scientific director of CIBEREHD, Rafael Bañares, addressing later in this first session theoretical aspects of translational research in liver and digestive diseases, in the fields of fibrosis and regeneration. liver disease (Anna Moles, CIBEREHD - IIBB-CSIC), hepatic vascular biology (Jordi Gracia, CIBEREHD- IDIBAPS), colorectal and pancreatic cancer (Jordi Camps, CIBEREHD-Hospital Clínic), and inflammatory bowel disease (Azucena Salas, CIBEREHD-Hospital Clínic ). The afternoon will end with a keynote lecture entitled "Adult-tissue derived organoid cultures and their biomedical applications", which will be delivered by Meritxell Huch (Max Planck Institute of Molecular Cell Biology and Genetics, Dresden, Germany).
The day of Saturday November 27 is eminently practical. Participants will be able to choose different experimental activities to develop among the following proposals: 1) Experimental models of fibrosis and liver regeneration - Anna Moles; 2) Isolation and culture of liver cell types - Jordi Gracia; 3) ABC of the histopathological analysis of the liver biopsy - Alba Díaz (Hospital Clínic-IDIBAPS); 4) Generation of organoids in transgenic mouse models of colorectal cancer - Ester Sánchez (CIBEREHD-Hospital Clínic); and 5) Tissue processing for single cell analysis technologies –Azucena Salas.
